Screen Test: The Bodyguard

August 20th, 2009

It's Viktor's turn to step in front of the camera. Some of you may not know, but Viktor Quinn is based on a ball-joint doll that I have.

In his past, Viktor was a circus performer (knife thrower) who was urged by the management to take some time off after a romance with one of his co-workers turned sour. In desperate need of a job, one of his aquaintances put him in touch with Julian Nomad's manager. Due to a recent scandal, Julian was in need of a bodyguard, and Viktor was a perfect a fit for the role.

I just can't seem to play the Sims without taking pictures; even when I'm just running a test house. So, there's no real coherence or story behind these. It was just fun to see what my characters would do when I wasn't consciously directing most of their actions.

Screen Test: The Maiden

August 14th, 2009

I've spent the last week or so fiddling around in game in the neighborhood of Riverview, which has become my test neighborhood. I've set up two houses: one with Ransom Clavell, Emily Shadowtalon and Edmond le Strange, and the other with Julian Nomad and Viktor Quinn. I'm trying to complete their final looks before putting them in my main game (well, except for Ransom…he's hanging around because it's where I took his pictures for the previous post and I haven't had the heart to move him out [I enjoy looking at him too much…haha]).

I'm pretty sure I'm done working on Emily. She's gone through several little facial reconstruction sessions (thanks to "editsim") before I was completely happy with her look. Granted, she doesn't look massively different from when I first created her in CAS, but it's amazing how much small tweaks can refine the overall look. Here's a peek at Emily 1.0, if you want to see how she started out. I'd say the current version is Emily 3.0.

Anyway, doesn't she look a little like Liv Tyler here? Or is it just me? I think it must be the hair.

Here is my version of Ransom Clavell that I've been promising to make available for download (see link on page 2). I've refined him a bit more since I first introduced him to you. If you're curious, this is what he looks like the way EA/Maxis originally made him: [1], [2] (when in his sleepwear, his hair turned blond…way to go, EA).

Yeah, something had to be done—a guy with a badass mohawk needs to look cooler.
