Private School is Cool
November 2nd, 2004

The girls were so excited (and nervous) for their first day at private school that they were awake an hour before the alarm clock was set to go off. They laid in bed facing each other.
"Do you think private school will be any different than regular school?" asked Kim.
Kara rolled onto her stomach and raised up on her elbows. "You mean besides the uniforms we have to wear?"
"Yeah, like, what about the teachers? Will they be mean?"
"I heard that if you're bad they hit your hands with a ruler. And then make you stand in a corner with a weird hat on your head."
Kim's eyes looked like saucers. "Really?"
Kara nodded. "That's what Chandler said."
Kim snorted. "Chandler's lying. He's just mad that you're leaving him behind. He loooves you!"
"Nuh uh!"
"Yah huh!"
"Shut up!" Kara flopped over onto her back and sighed. "Come on, we should get up."

Kara and Kim ran downstairs dressed in new outfits their grammy gave them when she found out they got accepted to private school. Their mom was already dressed and sitting on the couch waiting for them.
"Are you ready, girls?"
"Yeah," they said in unison as they grabbed some books from the shelf.
Andi was trying to help them learn to cook. Home Ec was one of the new classes the girls would be subjected to and, as evidenced by the stinky cakes they continued to make in their Little Baker oven, the girls needed lots of help.

After a breakfast of pancakes, which the girls had a hard time eating because of nervous stomachs, they quickly changed into their uniforms and went out to wait at the curb for the bus. Now that the time was upon them, they just wanted to get to school and get the day started.

After school, Kim was bursting with glee when she jumped off the bus—she had gotten her first A+! Now she could be just like her older sister. She ran into the house wanting to share her news and found her dad asleep in bed.
"Dad! Dad! Guess what!"
Art groaned and, pushing up to his elbows, looked blearily at his daughter hopping up and down at the foot of the bed. "What is it, darlin'?"
"I got an A+! And on the first day at private school!"
"Very good, Kim! I'm proud of you."
Meanwhile, Kara was excited to find some mail just for her. Apparently her rich uncles were very proud of her excellent report cards and decided to reward their neice with §100 to spend any way she wanted. She knew what she wanted to do with the money even before she ran into the house to tell her dad the news. This money would be saved until after her upcoming birthday. She would definitely need some new clothes once she was a teenager.

Pleeeeeeeeeeeese can you give us a story about Kim's teenage birthday. I LUV your stories about Kim and Kara- I've been reading them since Kim was a toddler.
* * *
Yep, I'll be showing Kim become a teenager, she still has about 4 more sim days until she'll be one though. Until then, you can see Kara become a teenager tomorrow.

Wonderful! Great story and excellent production work. I haven't dug through the archives, so excuse the question. Are you scripting the family for this story, or playing the game and retelling the things that happened?
Enjoying your blog,
Lauren

Lauren: Thank you! I'm not letting the Strudels run autonomously. I'm heavily directing them down a path I want them to take. However, every once in a while something unplanned will come up and I'll just roll with it (e.g. Andi getting fired from her job). Also, sometimes for dramatic effect or to make the story flow better I'll also switch the order of scenes in my blog. But, everything that you see in these stories is pretty much how it happened in the game.
