Sims 3 Tales: Interlude

July 28th, 2009

Thornton: "Babe, you want romance?"

Morgana: "Sorry. I wasn't fishing for anything. I know making the decision to have a baby isn't supposed to be romantic. It needs cool heads and rational thinking, I just—"

Thornton: "Ana…"

Thornton: "…Sometimes you talk to much. Come here."

Later…

Morgana: "Thank you so much, Thorn. I really think it worked. I know it's way too soon to tell, but I feel…different somehow. Like a new life has sparked inside me."

Thornton: "Well, I say we keep trying until we know for sure."

Morgana: "You just like having an excuse for sex."

Thornton: "What can I say—"

Morgana: "—I know you too well."

Author's Note:

So, Thornton, a man who dislikes children and has commitment issues, has given into his wife's pleas to have a family. I think it's because he feels guilty for cheating on her. Gasp! Bad, Thornton. (I make my game into such a soap opera.)

Anyway, I checked back in with the Wolff family a few days later to see how far along Morgana was in her pregnancy.

I found the couple at the (ugly) museum (I have got to find a better museum. The one that came with the game is horrid). I was actually surprised to find them hanging out together. Morgana was in a blissful state of contentment knowing that she was pregnant (she's a family sim).

Meanwhile, Thornton looks like he maybe having second thoughts about this whole baby thing. Of course, it's too late to do anything about it now. At least he's spending time with Ana and not with his mistress. 😛

I think this photo pretty much sums up their feelings: she's so happy she's walking around with a tiny smile on her lips, and he just looks lost and annoyed.

Now, meet their daughter Laura. I didn't bother with shots of the birth (since I missed it) or of the baby or toddler stages. I just aged Laura up to the child stage.

Anyway, I think she turned out pretty cute for a Sims 3 kidlet. She really seems to take after her father. Now I need to have Laura and Inara meet. I want them to be friends (at least, I hope they will like each other. Sometimes the sims don't act like I want them to).

Oh, and Morgana is pregnant again (Thornton must be feeling extremely guilty). I'm crossing my fingers that it's a boy this time (and, yes, I've been feeding her apples, which are supposed to improve her chances of having a boy).

OK wait…wait…I have to go back and re-read. Thornton had an affair? How did I forget that? Old age perhaps or too many fried brain cells I guess. hehe

Laura did turn out pretty cute. She does look a lot like Thorn.

  2. Kara says:

Gayl: Not to worry. You didn't miss anything! 🙂 I never mentioned it in the story itself (or rather Thornton didn't mention it). If you asked him, he wouldn't make the conscious connection between giving into Ana's desire for a baby and him feeling guilty for having an affair. He thinks he's made a purely selfless decision. 😮

And, yes, this is just a quick little story so plot holes abound! haha

The Sims 3 sims look better hairy than the Sims 2 ones, it seems. I've always avoided it because they look… disturbing. Not that I'm anti-hair on males! Quite the opposite, actually… but it just never looked right. These look a lot better, but every male having the EXACT same hair pattern would drive me bonky. And blonds having black body hair, LOL!

But I digress, Thorton Wolff is not a bad TS3 sim! His wife, however, leaves a lot to be desired, haha. I'm so mean. 😮 LOL at the spreadsheet thing. My husband is the type to do that… sigh.

I love the dislikes children sims! They are so funny when you force them to interact.

  4. Kara says:

Mao: Yeah, I'm really liking the hairy look in Sims 3. Although, I wish not every sim had to have the same skin. I'd definitely love to have some variety.

And, yeah, I'm loving Thornton, but Morgana is kind of blah even after I gave her a make-over. I've got to get Thorn together with his mistress.

Oh, and it was so funny. I checked in on the Wolff family and discovered that Thorn had actually taken his daughter to the park. He had a negative moodlet for being around her and yet he took her of his own volition. Silly sim. He must be masochistic.

Whoa. Wait. So you actually have to DRIVE them to the hospital to have a baby. Jesus Christ, the realism is driving me crazy. Hm. So does that mean if you have the camera outside you can hear them screaming or something…
I dunno. Great update again. I've been having a crappy week and this made me laugh :D. It sounds like a real couple.
    Once again: 'Tis awesome! 😛

  6. Kara says:

Stephanie: I'm sorry that your week has been crappy, but I'm glad that I could at least bring a little humor to your week.

Actually, when your sim goes into labor, you get a pop-up asking if you want to have to baby at the hospital or at home. If you do it at home, it's pretty much like the Sims 2 (except for the little movie that would play). If you go to the hospital, then it's pretty much like when they go to work: they (the husband might come too) will go into the hospital rabbit hole for a while and then emerge with a baby. I didn't hear any screaming when I was waiting outside the hospital when Katriss gave birth. Thank goodness. haha

Ooooh…. interesting.. I want to see the sims 3 version of the monster and the maiden! Perrrdy please! Maybe they can be in the backround of a pic or something- I miss Edmond! 😕 😕 😕

  8. Ju says:

So what are you using to give the pre-made sims make-overs? Hmmm… because that would be an amazing thing to have. Yes yes.

I think it's cute that Thornton took his daughter to the park on his own, even though he didn't "want" to (the negative moodlet). It's kinda sweet, and a bit realistic. There are some parents who don't like spending a lot of quality time with their kids doing what their kid wants to do, but take them and squeeze through it just to make them smile. It's very honorable!

  9. Kara says:

Stacey: I'm planning on that. I haven't been able to play at all this week unfortunately since it's been way too freakin' hot here (I'm afraid that I'll overheat my computer, so I've been turning it off in the afternoon). I'm going crazy without my computer.

Ju: Oh, yes. It's a must that I makeover the pre-mades. haha I use Awesomemod to do it. When the sim you want to make over is on the same lot as you, you do "ctrl-shift-C" to bring up the console, then type in "editsim [sim's name]" (without the quotes or brackets). That will pull the sim into CAS. There you can change anything you want about them. Well, almost anything. I've read that you shouldn't mess with their weight or age sliders or bad things might happen. You can also save the sim to your sim bin if you want to use them later. (Down by your sims portrait is a "…" button. Just click that and select "save to bin".)

And, yes, I was pleased to see that Thornton was being a good dad in spite of himself. haha

  10. Lani says:

is it me or do the sims 3 guys have bigger chests?

and i agree w/ you the museum is super ugly! i like the art you chose much better 🙂

and i'm enjoying the new pics you uploaded on to your banner. (is that what it's called?)

  11. Kara says:

Lani: Yeah, the Sims 3 guys aren't as skinny…unless you want them to be (they have slider bars to chose their weight and musculature). I prefer guys that don't look like their going to blow away in a stiff breeze. haha

Glad you're enjoying the banner. 🙂 I think I have about 11 or so rotating pictures up there.
