The Veladorns Meet the Feratus
October 19th, 2004

Meanwhile, Briza was left to entertain the other guests. She hadn't had time to go to the market so she pulled some instant meals out of the 'fridge and then asked if anyone was up for a game of darts. Spike jumped at the offer but Mina declined. "I'll just watch," she said.
Briza was rather good at darts after growing up in a family of boys who would challenge her at every opportunity. At first she had played simply to make her brothers happy. But after they changed the stakes on her, (the winner could order the loser to do anything he wanted) she played to make her brothers do her chores. They quit playing with her when they stopped winning.
However, today her game seemed to be off. She just couldn't hit the bullseye. Perhaps it was due to Spike staring intensely at her during each of her rounds. She fanned herself with her hand. His gaze was disconcerting.

What was it about Spike? It wasn't as if she no longer was attracted to men just because she was married, but something about Spike made her want to forget her husband. That was bad!

Briza glanced over at Mina and noticed the woman fairly swoon as Spike walked past her. Ah, yes, there was just something about that man. It was like he exuded a miasma of sexiness and danger. A deadly combination to whichever woman he set his sights upon.

Briza slipped into the bathroom to splash some water on her face. She'd have to check her books after the guests had left. Maybe there was a spell in one of them that would make her immune to Spike's charms.
The door creaked open behind her and she clutched at her throat until she saw it was only Mina.
"You feel it too, don't you?" said Mina.
Briza knew exactly what Mina was hinting at and nodded. "How can you stand living in the same house with him?"
Mina laughed. "Well, it wasn't always this bad. Something happened to him before he found us and since then he's desperately been searching for his soul mate. And, somehow, it's like his desperation has triggered this…this uncontrollable attraction that women, and even some men, seem to feel for him. At least, that's my theory."
"Well…I guess it makes sense."
"All I know for certain is I've got to get Spike out of my house before Nos kills him!" Mina giggled. "He's sick of seeing me swoon over Spike."

Later that night, after the rest of the guests had been fed and departed, Thalan pulled Briza into their bedroom. He stretched out on the bed and patted the mattress beside him. "Come here, my love."
Briza leapt onto the bed and snuggled under his arm. He told her about Nos' cheating and then apologized for leaving her alone to entertain the other guests. She told him not to worry about it, but neglected to tell him about Spike. There was no reason to worry him needlessly.
"Now where were we earlier, hm?" Thalan asked. And before she knew it, he had grabbed her shoulders and…

…flipped her onto her back.
"Ah, yes. I remember now. I was going to about to ravish you."
"You talk too much, Thalan." And with that, Briza pulled his head down towards her.

Wonderful, Kara! I loved every word! How neat that you brought Spike into the picture. How interesting the entire Feratu family showed up at once to greet the Veladorns. It just has to be your new video card because your pictures are spectacular!!!

That was awesome! Thalan is the coolest, and Nos is positively freaky. He looks really evil when he's cheating at the chess game. 🙂 Your stories are wonderfully creative!

:!:WOW! Although I am not usually one for reading science fiction or futuresque type stories, I was very drawn to your writing. You keep your audience captivated and I found myself wishing for more. Wonderful job…keep up the great work!
