Kara's Sweet Sixteen
November 3rd, 2004
Kara had just grabbed a slice of chocolate cake for herself when she noticed John starring at her. He certainly was cute…for a little boy. She bet he'd grow up to be a major hottie someday. It was too bad she hadn't gotten to know him before she'd grown up.
"I'm going to have a birthday party soon," said John.
"Oh?"
"Yeah. Then I'll be as old as you. Will you wait for me?"
"Wait for you for what?"
John's courage seemed to desert him then as he looked down at the ground and scuffed his foot. "Um…well…you know…maybe we can go do something. Like my brother does with this girl he's dating."
Kara opened and close her mouth but no sound came out. Finally, she managed to shrug. "I guess."
"Great! Maybe you can come to my party too." John got a piece of cake and then headed over toward the table.
Kara walked around the island and sat down in one of the bar stools. Her cheeks burned, she was sure they were bright red. How weird had that been? She'd only been a teenager for a few moments and already someone had asked her out. Granted, he was still a kid, but still….
"Um…"
Kim's hesitant voice startled Kara from her reverie. She looked over to find her sister picking at a slice of gelatin.
"Now that you're grown up, does that mean you won't play with me anymore?" Kim diligently studied the fruit suspended in the jello.
"Of course not," said Kara. "We'll still totally play and hang out and stuff. And I can take you to the mall by myself."
"Yeah, but we're getting separate bedrooms again tomorrow. We won't be able to talk to each other before we go to bed."
"Yes we can. Mom and Dad are downstairs so I can sneak over and talk to you before you fall asleep."
Kim thought it over for a moment then nodded her head. She turned her attention to Kara, her eyes bright with possibilities. "Okay. Maybe we could have slumber parties too…and maybe you could get a TV in your room…and maybe—"
"Oh! A TV! Good idea! I'll ask Mom."
The guests had left and Art was playing SSX with Kim so Andi took Kara to the upstairs bathroom and gave her a personal gift.
"I know we're giving you a newly decorated bedroom for your birthday, but a teenage girl also needs this." Andi held out a black box tied with a white silk ribbon.
Kara took the box and quickly pulled off the ribbon. She lifted the lid to find a rainbow of makeup products arrayed before her. "Wow," she whispered, her voice tinged with reverence, "they're so pretty. Uh…what do I do with them?"
Andi smiled and moved Kara to stand in front of the mirror. "I'm glad you asked." She proceeded to show her step-by-step how to correctly, and subtly, apply makeup.
When Andi was done she stepped back. "Take a look."
Kara stepped closer to the mirror and examined her face. Shimmery eye shadow highlighted her eyes, a light dusting of blush made her cheeks glow, and lipgloss tinted her lips. She squealed in delight. "Thanks, Mom! I love it!"
After a final piece of cake, it was time for bed. The girls went up to their room and stayed up talking until they couldn't keep their eyes open any longer. Tomorrow they would have their own rooms again.
Kara's last thoughts as she drifted off to sleep were of John, the little boy in the pirate suit. She wondered what he would look like when he grew up and if he'd still want to go out with her.
Note: I'd been slightly stressing over how I was going to get John and Kara to meet but, as luck would have it, on the day of Kara's birthday the Hillock children came home from school with Kara and Kim (although the Hillocks aren't in private school…hmm). So, anyway, now that they've met I better have John grow up soon.

That is really good and extremly descriptive. I especially like the way you've kept it so entertaining for three pages, many other stories I've read really only say 'Sim X grew up' and have a couple of pictures.

I've finally caught up:mrgreen:!! I'm absolutely loving it sis! Your stories are so creative and packed with hidden meaning and pieces of your personality. You have our family playing it out perfectly!! I love US!:grin: The Alphabets is nice addictive little story! I can't wait for John's B-Day (Little John, hmmmm, you did in fact rob the cradle, sis!)–You are just too hot grown up, I'll bet he'll be the same,…What a perfect match! I felt sort of sad 😥 when little Kim asked if her sis would still play with her, cuz I remember thinking just that…But, you did, and still do!:wink: I feel sorry for poor Dad–Hopefully he gets his promotion soon or little Kim might have to go down to Everybody's a Weiner and tell them where they can shove there hot dogs if they don't give her Dad the promotion he deserves.:lol::lol: I can't wait for me to grow up either, so I can be as gorgeous as my older sis! My John wants to know why he isn't in the stories at all,…he's pouting (sort of):wink:! Love you sis! Can't wait for more:!:
