The Kelps Around Town
November 10th, 2004
Marina was pleased at how her campaigning was going so far. She'd managed to catch some people at home and dropped off pamphlets at homes where people were obviously at work for the day.
At the next house—more of a cottage really—at which she was planning to stop, she spotted a young drow elf woman working in the yard. They introduced themselves to each other and Briza, the drow elf, invited Marina inside. "You look like you could use a break."
Marina suddenly realized that she was tired. Walking around the neighborhoods of Pirate's Cove had taken a lot out of her. She allowed Briza to lead her into the little cottage.
Once inside, Briza introduced Marina to the joys of darts. As they played, somehow or another, as it usually does when women get together, the conversation turned to men.
Even though she hadn't known Briza for very long, there was something about the drow woman that made Marina want to confide in her. "So, you're married and you know about love, right? How do you know when to take the plunge? When should you open your heart to someone and take a chance?"
Marina's questions took Briza off guard throwing her aim off and causing her to miss the dart board completely. "Wow. You must have someone in mind if you're asking those questions. Who is he?"
Marina studied the floor at her feet. It was her first time admitting this to anyone, even herself. "Well, you see, there is this retainer that's been with me for a long time. He's also a bodyguard of sorts. And, my confidant—I can tell him anything."
"Is he sexy? Here, it's your turn."
Marina blushed as Briza handed her the darts. "Yes, he's very handsome." She positioned herself in front of the target.
"Ooo! How romantic! A sexy bodyguard! How does he feel about you?"
Forgetting that she was supposed to be playing, Marina fiddled with the darts in her hand. "That's just it. I'm not positive. I sometimes catch him looking at me but it's always with no expression on his face."
"Uh huh."
"I don't want to force my attentions on him. The last thing I want is for him to feel that it's somehow his duty to humor me in this. That because I used to be his queen now he has to cater to my romantic whims."
"I'm sure you have nothing to worry about, Marina. I bet you anything that he's as interested in you as you are in him. I think you should talk with him. Communication is the key."
The conversation drifted after that as they continued their game, but Marina continued to mull over Briza's advice.
Having worked up an appetite after a frenzied game of darts, Briza made a plate of sandwiches and served Marina who was waiting at the table. "Hopefully this will give you some energy to finish your campaigning today."
"Mmmf," mumbled Marina through a mouthful of sandwich.
"And you're going to have a talk with Neptune, right?" A mischievous smile played across Briza's lips.
Marina almost choked on her sandwich and rolled her eyes. "Perhaps."
Briza's eyebrows drew together and her expression grew stern.
Laughing, Marina said, "Fine, fine. I'll talk to him."
They finished their meal quickly and then, after a hasty goodbye where Briza invited Marina and Neptune over for dinner sometime, Marina left the Veladorn's and headed to the next house on the block.

Yay, another story! 🙂 It's great to read about the Kelps again, and especially cool to see them mingle with the other inhabitants of Pirate's Cove. I also love all of the budding romances. And you know I'm a big fan of Neptune! Rowr! I can't wait to see what happens with him and Marina.

OOhh I love the look of those elves! LOL I didn't even realise that they were royal sea-elves….I really didn't mean to copy your story Kara…I guess imitation is the most sincere form of flattery? 😉

The thinking caps are one of the rewards that Sims can purchase with points that they gain through fulfilling their aspirations (for example, getting an A+ at school, making out with 3 Sims, etc.). The caps double the rate at which they build skills.

Again an amazing story and update! The pictures are all great quality. Do you take you're them with the printscreen button or do you use 'C' ingame?

Aner-Dyfan: Thank you! I take the picture ingame with the "C" button. I take them at highest quality and largest size. Then I reduce them in size (from 600×450 to 490×368) and "sharpen" the image to get rid of the blurriness that can happen when an image is made smaller. That's all! 🙂

I'm still laughing. Great story! I haven't seen any Sims fight yet. I'm not a mean person or anything, but it's funny to see the pics. Can't wait for a cat-fight to break out in my house.

Your stories are way better than the ones on the sims2 website. They are so cute! I'm siting on the egde of my seat waiting to see what happens next. Great Job. Can't wait to find out what happens.
