The Monster and the Maiden: Ch. 07

Unsure of what to do, he continued his mental assault, but the other mind would not give up mastery over his body. It was not until her warm blood flooded his mouth and overwhelmed his taste buds with its delectable vintage that he perceived a shift in the mind he struggled against as the Other revelled in its unrestrained feeding.

Pushing aside the desire to lose himself in Emily's flavor as well, Edmond took advantage of the Other's momentary distraction and, with a powerful mental shove, slipped back into his mind. As soon as he reclaimed his rightful property, he swiftly erected a mental wall. An enraged wail echoed through is mind as his barrier was battered by the other consciousness, though it seemed to quickly lose whatever strength it had possessed.

It was only then that Edmond realized he was still suckling at Emily's neck, massaging her vein with his tongue and swallowing the ambrosial elixir that was her blood. Its life-giving force coursed through his body flowing into and filling crevasses in his being that he never realized had been devoid of anything.

It was still a wonder to him that he had been able to dredge up the will to push away from her. Indeed, it had been all he could do to keep himself from grabbing her again and taking his fill. Whatever had taken over his body was again quiet, but his lust for blood was undiminished.

He had slumped against the concrete wall of the basement trying to gather his wits and regain full control over his base desires, but her tentative touch on his shoulder had almost been his undoing. Desperate for her to simply go away, before he did something more he would regret, he begged her to leave him alone.

Replaying the scene in his mind, he realized now that he had uttered his pleas in French. No wonder she had seemed hesitant and confused. She had not been able to understand him. At the time though, with the taste of her blood still fresh on his lips, he had been too shaken to remember any English at all.

Recalling her flavor, he watched in the bathroom mirror as his tongue flicked out and licked his lips. So dangerous, he thought. If ever he wished to banish a memory from his mind, it would be this. Never before, in the decade and a half that he had been preying on humanoids, had he encountered a vessel such as her. From now on, he would compare every person that he fed upon to her and all would be found lacking.

But what was so special about her blood? And what would have happened if he drank every drop of it? If he had taken all of her vital force into himself? Just think of the power you would now have at your disposal, an insidious voice whispered in his mind. He shook his head angrily to rid himself of the thought.

But was it his own thought or the voice of the Other taunting him behind his mental barrier? Or was he just shifting the blame for his own moral shortcomings onto something that might not truly exist? Perhaps he had not been fighting another consciousness for control of his body. What if he was simply losing his mind?

    Tightest ass on a sim yet, that man hits all the right buttons. And yay! Julian's appearance! I wonder if he'll notice the mark on his neck even though he has no recollection of the incident.

    Holy Cows! That was utterly fantastic. I swear, this story just builds up so perfectly every chapter. The beginning is just soooo…..wow.
    I wonder if Emily is going to tell her father about this….oh god no. I can just picture what Tahlvin would do if he found what happened *shudders*.

    Great job, I'm already itching to see what'll happen next!

    Wonderful update! To see things from his point of view– how frightful.

    Also, your pictures are so beautiful. I love Edmond's home. There are so many details to gather in each shot. It really does look lived in.

    BanSidhe: Thank you! 😀 Rafe won't be showing up in the story again for a while yet, but that doesn't stop me from trying to figure out what hairstyle I want for him. I like this long one on him. He looks piratey. Arrrr! 💡

    Hydrakitten: haha I had to work in a bare ass sooner or later, and I'm sure Edmond's will make a reappearance sometime in the story. 😉 As for Julian, I'm sure he'll notice the bite mark, but chalk it up to some wild, drunken, sexual encounter, which will make him sad that he doesn't remember it.

    Stephanie: Thank you so much! And, yes, I think Emily would be wise not to tell Tahlvin what happened. Unless, of course, she doesn't mind Edmond being dead, which may be the case after he bit her.

    E. Black: Thanks! I really feel like the story turned a corner here. Plus, this was a mega-chapter. I usually split chapters that are this big into at least two parts, but there was no good place to split it, so I just decided to post it in one big chunk.

    TheLunarFox: Thank you! Yes, I thought it was important to see the events of the last chapter from his point of view so that you could see the conflict he was going through, especially since it introduced the concept of the Other.

    Trina: Oh, the Other is very terrifying. It's still very weak at this point but slowly gaining in strength, which makes it even more scary. And, thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. 😀

    Kara, you never fail to amaze me. The way you describe Edmond's internal fight with The Other shows off your intense writing talent. I mean, wow… And it was awesome to see the other perspective of that very powerful little scene. I cannot wait to see where this goes. As always, you have me on the edge of my seat.

    Veron: Wow, thank you for the wonderful compliment! I was a worried that this chapter may not work as I was retreading ground mostly covered in the last chapter. But, I'm glad I managed to get across Edmond's feelings without bogging the story down.

    As for naked Edmond: after all the drama of the last two chapters, I thought a little fan-service was warranted. haha

    This was an amazing chapter. We really got into more detail into Edmund's inter turmoil with what he is and his feelings towards Emily. I'm quite anxious now to find out how Emily is taking in all that has happened and how her and Edmund's relationship will change after this encounter 😯

    Btw I love Edmund's house. It has such a great balance between elegance and grunge :XO:

    OMG! I'm so intrigued! I love you and the way you effortlessly pull me into the story. I…just wow. I never noticed just how sexy Edmond is. I love the color of his eyes…sigh..never in real life will someone as sexy exist, ahha. And Rafe…next to Tahlvin…i'm on cloud nine.

    graphicity: Thank you! We'll be seeing Emily's reaction to all this in a couple chapters. As for his house, I tried to make it reflect his personality: a bit old-fashioned with a tired elegance, and cluttered with the extra baggage (i.e. worries) that he's been carrying around.

    Oh my, Edmond's toosh sent shivers down my spine! The storyline gets better by the chapter, I am in awe of your talent in fictional literature. The Other is indeed one sinister being, I think Edmond should just swallow his pride, go to Koryll then steak Emily from the clutches of her fiancee 😛
    Ugh, now I'm all frenzied up…can't wait 'til the next chapter!

    Kara, I just loved getting to see Edmond's perspective on the unfolding events. This chapter was well worth the wait! I'm always amazed at how well you are able to capture the expressions and various poses. Very cool! 😀

    Oh and i meant to say this yesterday, but I was sidetracked and my mind was jumbled in many different directions. Basically, I felt like this chapter was sorta erotic. Like Edmond's biting Emily was slightly impure…i dunno. Not saying this is a porno, but i hope you understand what I'm saying. Thanks and sorry for posting twice.

    Nice chapter. I really liked how you demonstrated Edmond's inner turmoil with the 2 versions of himself. I have a feeling that Emily will play a big role in that component of his character development. I also agree with Eva about the chapter being erotic and my guess is that was your intent. I think vampires and the 'bite' have almost always been portrayed that way and rightly so.

    Trista: Thanks so much! The Freezer Clock from MTS2 has become invaluable to me in doing poses. I'm not sure how I got a long without it. haha

    Eva: Yes, I was trying to get across the erotic, slightly perverse nature of biting the neck. Plus the fact that Emily's blood effect Edmond in a way that none of his other victims' had before. All this is important and will make sense later on. 🙂

    Decorgal: Thank you! And you're right, Emily does play an important role in Edmond's character arc. I can't say too much without giving anything away though. 😉

    I just have to tell you I loved loved loved this chapter. My favorite so far.
    I just loved how I got lost here and then and then you get that 'ahaaa' effect when you start getting it XP.

    Poor Edmond, hope he 'gets well' soon. I really like how you built his character, I really have no words. The sets are amazing, poses and the graphics. I really like how you don't edit your pictures(or at least, you make it looks like it wasn't edited). It's a good choice not too cause… I dunno, I can't explain it , it just that the rich but simple pictures suit the story.

    Sarah: Thank you! I've been throwing out clues as to what is going on with Edmond so I'm glad that it's starting to make sense.

    I do edit my pictures but I do it more so to enhance the lighting (a lot of the pictures are really dark without editing) and to get rid of the yellow cast that so many of the pictures seem to have. However, I want them to still look natural and not like they've been 'shopped a lot so I'm really glad you had that reaction to them.

    I'm emotionally linked to Edmond (I even dreamed three times in the last three nights that I was dating him 😯 ), and I fear for him…I don't know what is worse, if the increasing strenght of the Other or the possible reaction of Tahlvin if he knows what Edmond did to Emily 😐 …I'm anxious to see what will happen!Keep up the great work, Kara! 😉

    First of all, I am totally blown away by the way you showed Edmond warring with his Other self. I think I not only stared at those shots for several minutes longer than I should, I re-read that bit a lot. What a struggle he has going on and I think this was the first time I realized exactly what went on when he changed. And it was scary! I almost thought Edmond wasn't going to come back!

    I was delighted at Julian's appearance! Poor guy, left in an alley like that…

    I liked seeing these events from Edmond's POV. It explains why he came back before he was completely sated and discovered Emily. Very erotic, sensual scene by the way. Stunning the way you wrote it and the way you shot it.

    Gayl: This is the first time that Edmond has actually "encountered" the Other. Before, he always thought it was some part of himself that had become a beast and he was trying to keep that part caged off. But the Other has gained strength and is now actively fighting Edmond for control of his body. I'm so glad that the scenes worked for you. I was afraid that they might be confusing.

    Erica: Glad you didn't give up! Yes, I'm slow with my updates, but I come through sooner or later. 😉

    Silky: Well, I'm stumped. I have no idea why the pictures aren't working for you. Is it just the pictures in this post that aren't loading? What browser are you using?

    Yeah, its just the ones in this post. I have both Firefox and Explorer, and I tried veiwing it in both and there was no change. But, I am on another computer and I can see them. Its crazy, I can't think of anyhting that could do this.

    Oooh I got shivers reading this chapter! (mostly from seeing Edmond's tight ass. I think this might be the first case where I actually fell in love with a sim :XO: ) But really I feel like this chapter has opened up a whole bunch of new possibilities for Edmond as well as problems. I can't wait to see what Emily's reaction will be like. We've heard Edmond's side of the story but now i want to hear Emily's. All in all great chapter 🙂

    I really hope you plan to continue this story – it's amazing, and I actually care about the characters (which is quite an achievement, considering they're batches of pixels in a simulation game). Pleeeeeasssse carry on with it! You're too good a writer to let something this good be abandoned.

    I remember when I first stumbled upon this gem in 2008, I was so captivated by your story that over the past six years I still check back occasionally hoping to see a new chapter. I still really hope you finish this story so some day when I check back I can fall in love all over with Edmond again. You're so talented!
