Meet the Kelps

Marina is an exiled queen from the undersea kingdom of Poseidonis. After months of searching, those who were still loyal to her, found their queen a refuge in the small town of Pleasantview. (Marina and her people are amphibious so living on land is not a problem especially since they would have access to swimming pools and hot tubs.) The house isn't nearly as big and grand as the royal palace or even the royal vacation cottage, but Marina's glad to have any place that she can call home. On her journey to Pleasantview she's had a lot of time to think and has decided that the best way to start her "normal" life is to get a job as a campaign worker. This way, she can get to know her new community at the grassroots level. And, maybe someday, she'll once again govern people.
Neptune, a loyal retainer to Marina, was one of the people who helped obtain the refuge in Pleasantview for the queen and her son. He plans to stay in her employ when she finally arrives in Pleasantview. Although most people may just see a loyal servant when they look at him, he has unplumbed depths and is a scholar at heart who takes every opportunity to learn something new. He also has a secret that he's never shared with anyone: he is desperately in love with his queen. Will she ever see him as anything more than a servant?
Salty followed his mother Marina into exile. He was next in line for the throne, and so couldn't safely stay in Poseidonis anymore. He's not too worried about his new position in society. After all, once he's an adult he's sure he can charm the new Poseidonisian government into giving his family's power and lands back (ah, the naiveté of youth). He's also noticed the looks that Neptune gives his mother. His father died many years ago, but even so he's not ready for anyone to take his father's place. This has caused some strained relations between the two men.
Not having any living relatives after the revolution, Sea came with her father on his mission to find a royal refuge. She's very excited about the prospects for her new life in a land not ruled by an aristocracy. She'll actually have the opportunity to be anybody she wants rather than just another retainer in the royal household. Sea wishes her father wouldn't stay with the queen. She thinks the queen doesn't appreciate her father's work and just takes him for granted. However, she's glad of the fact that she will be living in the same house as Salty. She's had a crush on him forever.
