UFO Sightings

November 14th, 2007

UFO Sighting

I was working on a Mars set for the next chapter (I probably put way too much work into this set as it's only going to be in a couple pictures anyway) and I was surprised to be visited by UFOs—two of them at the same time nonetheless! I know most of you have probably already seen this in your game, but my Mission Bay neighborhood doesn't have any crashed UFOs so I'd never been visited by any. I thought it was pretty cool!

Going, going…

…gone! I love the little purple smoke the UFOs leave behind.

They also seemed very interested in my terraforming machines (cooling towers…whatever). They flit around them quite often.

Perhaps they are refueling?

And here's just an extra because I like the way the colony looks at nighttime.

Totally Off-Topic: Confessions of a Gamer Girl

I think I'm in love with my current World of Warcraft character. I usually play females, but the blood elf males are simply too tasty. So, I created a platinum-haired blood knight (paladin) named Xannicus. I find myself logging into the game just to stare at him sometimes. I also have fun dressing him in matching gear so that he always looks handsome. I'm such a geek.

Ah, the elusive UFOs! I remember the (only) time I saw them fly over the Maxis-made Downtown – almost blinked and missed them 😀 One seemed to land on the roof of a tower block before flying away, and I haven't seen any since. I thought Strangetown would have had at least one visit, but it never did and I've deleted that neighbourhood now.

    Xannicus is gorgeous!

Kara said: Thank you for the compliments on Xannicus. Maybe someday I'll make a Sim of him. I'm not sure I could do him justice though.

And, I can't believe I've seen the UFOs so much. I swear I saw them about 10 times while I was decorating the neighborhood. I didn't realize they were so rare.

Oh my goodness! That's too hilarious!. I was just hanging out in front of one of my story hoods the other day, hoping to catch a UFO because I've never really had a good look at them. I hadn't even SEEN one until recently when out of the blue, one appeared in this hood (Lowden Valley) a few days ago – but I only caught it out of the corner of my eye and POOF! It was gone. 🙁

So now I've seen yours, and there is final proof that they really exist. LOL

Kara said: How funny! I thought everyone must have had multiple sightings already as, I mentioned in my previous comment, that I'd seen them almost a dozen times while decorating the 'hood. Maybe I only saw them so much because I was hanging out in the neighborhood view for so long.

=] This is super cool. I have always wanted one of my simmies to be abducted, but that's never happened. And I haven't ever seen any UFO's in my game before either. Snapdragon! T_T Oh well! I shall live on to see tomorrow, and that's all that matters (if I live another day, it's another day for THE SIMS! WOO!).

Kara said: heehee, Julliet. My Sims have never gotten abducted either, of course I rarely really "play" them.

  4. Choco says:

I must say, I've never even knew that UFOs could come to a neighborhood in such a manner. How lame am I? I've had Nightlife for about two years now, if my calculations are correct.

I love the way your colony looks. I'm always in awe of people who can create their own neighborhoods. I don't seem to have the creativity to do so. And do you build everything yourself? It's actually pretty inspiring.

Xannicus looks pretty intimidating. Perhaps you should simify him for your story. The you can look at him in WoW and The Sims.

Kara said: Thank you, Choco. Although I did decorate the neighborhood, I didn't build anything myself. I actually hate to build houses, businesses, etc. so I usually try to download them. Most everything for this neighborhood comes from Olemantiker's Space Center collection.

  5. Jacqueline says:

    hmm,
    never played the game before.
    What's it about.?

Kara said: World of Warcraft is a very fun and very addicting game. You can go read about it at their official site. They explain it much better than I ever could.

  6. Decorgal says:

Errr… UFO's visit the neighborhood? I thought they only came when you were in a lot. I didn't know! I need to play the game more. Haha.

Kara said: I know! I had no idea either. It makes me wonder about what other little easter eggs I've missed out on since I don't really play the game.

  7. Kristina says:

I saw the UFO for the first time when I was rearranging some stuff in the Downtown hood about a month ago, after I had placed a UFO crash neighborhood object on the outskirts of the hood, and I've had Nightlife since it came out. It swooped over the UFO crash, beamed a few of the purple laser lights you captured in your photo over the crash, and then off it flew. It looked like it was scanning the crash for survivors…well, at least, that's what my imagination said it did. 🙂

I wondered the same things too, what other Easter Eggs are hidden in the game, especially the neighborhood objects. With BV out now, I wonder if there's anything in the new "Ancient Ruins" objects. I've seen the OFB pig, but are there any others you all have seen?

And Xannicus…um, wow, drooooool. Now that's yummy. You did a beautiful job on him. That makes me want to go check out World of Warcraft. ;D

hey, your a fantastic -story teller- and photographer, but were do you post your pictures to get the URL code? I've been trying to figure out a spot for my pics but were ever I go they always come out blurry or with little red line running across them. *grr. help if you can*thanx

Kara said: Thank you, Kaylene! I really appreciate it. 🙂

As for my Sim pictures, I upload them to my website so I don't have to have them hosted anywhere. However, the pictures at my bjd site are hosted at Photobucket. If you do decided to go with them, I advise against using the "bulk uploader". Every time I've used it, some of my pictures aren't uploaded at their full resolution and look blurry.

I hope that helps! 🙂 Happy New Year!
